Watanabe Seitei(1851-1918) Though primarily a painter, Seitei was also a successful illustrator and an occasional designer of prints. His work was strongly influenced by the Shijo School, one of the more popular styles of Japanese painting known for its soft, impressionistic approach to subject matter and its extensive use of atmospheric washes, Seitei was best known for his kacho, or bird and flower paintings, though he also worked in other genres. He is said to have been a major influence on Mizuno Toshikata (1866-1908) and his pupil Kaburagi Kiyokata (1878-1973), who taught both Ito Shinsui and Torii Kotondo. Seitei exhibited and won medals at various world's fairs, including the Paris World's Fair of 1878, which he visited.

Condition: The print is overall in acceptable pre-owned condition, even toning, foxing in border, very subtle colors.
