Aloha,

For sale from a recently acquired Honolulu estate is this Parker 51 vacuumatic, circa 1947, is part of one of the most famous lines of fountain pens ever produced by the Parker Pen Company. The Parker 51 first made its debut in 1941 and quickly gained popularity for its innovative features and stylish design. The Parker 51 is known for its hooded nib, which not only gave it a distinctive appearance but also helped to prevent the ink from drying out quickly. The hooded design allowed for a smoother and more reliable writing experience. The "vacumatic" in its name refers to the pen's filling mechanism. The Parker 51 originally offered a vacumatic filling system, which used a diaphragm and a plunger to create a vacuum to suck ink into the pen's barrel. This system was innovative for its time because it allowed a larger capacity of ink compared to the lever fillers common at the time.

The Parker 51, regardless of the year, remains a sought-after piece among both users and collectors of vintage writing instruments today, appreciated for its elegance, reliability, and innovation.
