Up for sale from a recent collector in Honolulu Hawaii this pair of Excavated 15th century Thai Ayutthaya period molded lead made ear plugs on a acrylic stand.
Whereas Sukhothai was an independent kingdom for only about 200 years, its successor, Ayutthaya--situated in the rich rice plains of the Chao Phraya River basin, about 55 miles north of present-day Bangkok--lasted more than 400 years. During the Ayutthayan period the Tai consolidated their position as the leading power in what is now central and north-central Thailand, as well as throughout much of its southern peninsular region. This is only one of about 300 pieces that will be listed in the coming days and weeks from this collection. We were very fortunate for having been chosen to work with the estate. There are many items that I have not seen outside of well stocked museums. The tags that are attached to the items are from a gallery here in Honolulu and the pricing on the tags was what these items were offered for.
