This exquisite vintage round silver platter, crafted circa 1930 by renowned Hawaiian artist Margaret Fleming during her time in Honolulu, was specifically made for the prestigious Grossman Moody art gallery located on Waikiki Beach. The platter is signed with "butterfly orchid, Grossman Moody Ltd. Hawaii, 485, M. Fleming." It measures approximately 12 inches in width.

About the Artist:

Margaret Fleming Waldron American (1910-1992) Margaret Fleming Waldron had a long relationship with Waimea and Hawai'i. She had a distinguished career in Honolulu where her art studio produced works of copper, silver, crystal, and native materials for jewelry, textiles, and other home furnishings for Grossman Moody Ltd. of Waikiki Beach. She was the artist coordinator for the Hawai'i Pavilion at the 1929 San Francisco World's Fair, and in 1950 she was artist and color director for the remodeling of Straub Medical Clinic in Honolulu. In 1962, she was once again chosen to be artist coordinator for the Hawaiʻi Pavilion at the Seattle World's Fair. She also taught textile design at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. Margaret was regularly featured in the early Paradise of the Pacific magazines and had numerous one-woman shows throughout Hawai'i and the mainland.
