Russell captures light like no one else. In this painting, he's expressed the change in color saturation of the ocean and sky that are so visually satisfying.

Born in Honolulu in 1949, Russell Lowrey grew up in Hawaii, was educated at Punahou School and the University of Colorado. He received his BFA in 1973 from the University of Denver. He lives and paints in Honolulu.
