This is a fine example of an antique 19th Century wooden Christian Santos figure. The statue is clearly an original & genuine - a lovely rustic piece. It retains some of it's original finish although much has faded with time and replaced with a antique patina created by the candles used in churches over the countless decades. This Santos figure retains a portion of the original paint on the figure much of it has been replaced with a unique patina that has likely been created by the use of candles in churches over more than 100 years. Also the arm pegs are no longer attached similar to other Santos figures of this age & condition. There is a numerical marking on the back that was added by a recent owner.
