Up for sale from a recent estate in Hawaii, this 1949 Hawaii wood framed watercolor painting that depicts a harbor scene with boats and fishing figures and was created by the well known artist J. Halley Cox (1910-1974). The condition is described above for more information please check the photos. In case you would like to save some shipping money the painting can be shipped without its frame.

More about the artist:

Born in Des Moines, Iowa on May 20, 1910. By the 1920s, Cox had moved to California and was educated at San Jose State College and University of California, Berkeley (M.A., 1937). He then was a resident of Los Angeles and Salinas where he taught art in the public schools. From 1946-48 he taught at the CCAC. In 1948 he joined the art faculty at the University of Hawaii. He remained there until his death in Honolulu on Dec. 8, 1974.


Cox authored two books, Hawaiian Petroglyphs (Bishop Museum, 1970) and Hawaiian Sculpture (Univ. of Hawaii Press, 1974).
