Up for sale from a recent client in Honolulu Hawaii, this 1950s US black and white litho print that was issued through the Associated American Artists and is titled "Blessing of the Fleet"and was created and is pencil signed by the artist Richard Florsheim (1916-1979). A twentieth-century American printmaker, painter, sculptor, educator and writer, Richard Florsheim first studied at the University of Chicago before going to New York to study at the Museum of Modern Art and at the Metropolitan Museum, under Aaron Bohrod. His education was completed in Paris at the Musee Nationale d'Art Moderne.
Florsheim gained recognition in the late 1930's when he first began exhibiting his art. Venues included the Salon des Refuses, Paris; the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; the Los Angeles County Museum and the San Francisco Museum of Art.
Richard Florsheim was a full member of the American Graphic Artists, the Audubon Artists, the Artists Equity Association and the National Academy of Design. During his career he received the Art Institute of Chicago Award (1946), the Pennell Fund Award (1950) and the Library of Congress Award (1956).
