Up for sale from a recent estate in Honolulu Hawaii, this 1940s US black and white litho print that is titled "Man & Beast" and depicts a African American holding the reigns of a horse whilst it feeds from a bag he is holding and was created by the well known artist Joseph Hirsch (1910-1981). More about the artist:

Joseph Hirsch was a painter, muralist, illustrator, and printmaker who was born and educated in Philadelphia. He attended the School of Industrial Art between 1928 and 1931, and in 1932, went to New York to study with George Luks.

He completed several murals in Philadelphia including Football, Integration, Beginnings of Early Unionism, and Adoption. As a pictorial war correspondent during World War II, Hirsch made about seventy-five paintings and drawings between 1943

Condition: 

The print is overall in acceptable pre-owned condition, it was laid down onto a backing, the corners come up and the print can be professionally removed, the margins of the prints with glue residue and general toning and staining and mat burn in places, the image itself is pretty clean and the issues can be matted out for the most part, the mat shown in the photos is stained and will be removed for the shipping of the item
