Up for sale from a local estate in Honolulu Hawaii this circa 1940s Hawaii framed matted and glazed black and white litho print that is titled "Poker Players"depicting a group of man sitting around a table in a shack playing cards with a open window in the background showing houses and mountains that was created and is signed in pencil by the well known artist Alexander Macleod (1888-1975). More about the artist:
Alexander Samuel MacLeod was born on Prince Edward Island, Canada on April 12, 1888. MacLeod studied at McGill University. After settling in San Francisco, he studied at the Institute of Art under Frank Van Sloun. He had a studio in San Francisco in the old "Monkey Block" (now the Transamerica Bldg) and while living down the peninsula to San Mateo. By 1929 he had returned to Canada and for ten years following WWII he was head of the graphic art department for the U.S. Army in the Pacific. He was author-illustrator of Spirit of Hawaii in 1943. He died in San Mateo, CA on Oct. 26, 1975.

Condition:
The item is overall in acceptable pre-owned condition, the print is evenly toned, the mat with brown spotting the inside of the glass of the frame is dirty and it would make sense to open up the piece and clean it throughly and replace the mat with an archival mat, the frame is blond wood, the print is signed and titled in pencil, the print was not inspected out of the frame
