Up for sale from a local estate in Honolulu Hawaii this 1920s Hawaii framed original mixed media watercolor and pastel painting on paper that is titled "Riding to Kula, Upcountry Maui" depicting a group of figures on horseback traversing a mountainous landscape in upcountry Maui and is signed by the well known artist Charles W. Bartlett (CWB) (1860-1940). The painting is coming from a local Kamaaina estate and was purchased from Bartlett and hung in the summer home in upcountry Maui until it was brought over to Oahu at which time it was reframed. Original Bartlett paintings of Hawaii are incredibly rare and I am delighted that we were were entrusted with a piece of this calibre. Condition:
The item is overall in good pre-owned condition, the framing was done by Robyn Buntin of Honolulu, the painting appears clean and is framed using archival materials, it was not inspected out of the frame, signed only CWB, the gilt finish of the frame is heavily worn, it comes from a Kamaaina estate and has been in the family since it was purchased from the artist and was hanging in upcountry Kula until it was brought over to Oahu some decades ago at which time it was reframed,
